Reservations

Online reservations are now being accepted, with availability starting November 1, 2016. Peak travel season in this area is traditionally November to April, but the weather and activities in Ambergris Caye, Belize, make Casitas Tres Cocos a vacation destination year round. As a boutique resort, Casitas Tres Cocos only has 6 casitas, so we recommend making your reservation at least 3 months in advance. For arrivals within 30 days of booking, we request payment in full to confirm your reservation.

You can reserve your stay in one of our casitas with our online booking system or by calling 1.866.664.3158. In order to confirm your reservation, we kindly request a deposit of one night 9% hotel tax per casita. For arrivals within 30 days of booking, we request payment in full. We gladly accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.

In addition to our standard room rate and refundable deposit, the Belize government imposes a 9% hotel tax per casita that is included with your reservation total.

Promo codes for discounted room rates and special offers can only be added at the beginning of the booking process, when searching room availability during your desired arrival and departure dates. In order to be applied to your completed reservation, they must be entered into the "Promo Code" field in all lowercase letters (e.g. promocode).

When you begin the reservation process by entering your desired arrival and departure dates—and promo code, if applicable—the booking system will return search results for the available casitas. Hover over each one and click on View Details to open a lightbox window and read the description. In that same window, select Quantity and # of Adults, then click Add Room. You will return to the search results page, where you can repeat the process for each additional casita you want to book. After you add a room, your reservation subtotal (excluding tax and deposit) in the top right corner of the search results page will update automatically.

For special group rates and accommodations, please contact our concierge at info@casitastrescocos.com or 1.866.664.3158.

You can request any casitas that are available during the arrival and departure dates you search for in the booking system. Casita Eagle Ray and Casita Jaguar can be booked together using the promo code "suite", if both rooms are available; however, all of our casitas are private units and do not have interconnecting doors. View our resort map to see where the casitas are located and find others nearby.

In the Finalize Reservation step during the booking process, there is a field where you can add Special Requests for our concierge. Otherwise, please fill out our contact form or contact our concierge at info@casitastrescocos.com or 1.866.664.3158, and we will make every effort to accommodate you.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds within the cancellation periods as a result of no-shows or unused portions of accommodations. No refunds will be given due to airlines delays, strikes, political unrest, weather conditions including hurricanes, travel advisories, or personal emergencies. To safeguard against unforeseen problems such as flight delays and inclement weather, we highly recommend obtaining travel insurance for your trip; here are some insurance plan options.

All foreign nationals need a passport valid 6 months past their departure date to enter Belize. Some citizens from foreign countries must also have an entry visa. Please refer to your home country’s governmental travel requirements and visit the Government of Belize's Travel in Belize web page for details. We recommend securing any necessary documents well in advance of your travel dates.

In Belize, departure tax is levied on visitors exiting the country, and the amount depends on your method of travel (air, land, water). In general, the tax includes a passenger service fee of US$15, an airport development fee of US$15, a conservation fee of US$3.75, and a security fee of US$1.25. All visitors to Belize must pay the tax in cash (credit card is not accepted); however, the departure tax is typically included with your international airfare if you're exiting the country by plane. Please check with your airline and the Government of Belize's Travel in Belize web page for details.

The Belize dollar has a rough exchange rate of two (2) Belize dollars to one (1) U.S. dollar; however, it is not necessary to exchange U.S. dollars into Belize dollars. U.S. dollars (but not U.S. coins) are generally accepted everywhere. For exchange rates in other currency, we recommend using a currency converter such as this one from Exchange-Rates.org. Wherever you're visiting from, you are responsible for investigating the current monetary exchange. Casitas Tres Cocos will not issue refunds for any currency variances and/or bank fees.

U.S. dollars (but not U.S. coins) are accepted everywhere in Belize. We recommend bringing smaller denominations because change in U.S. currency may be limited. The majority of hotels, restaurants and shops in the more populated towns and tourist areas accept major credit cards. Street vendors and smaller establishments in remote areas may accept only cash. ATMs are easily found in most town and city centers, and the nearest ATM to Casitas Tres Cocos is in San Pedro town. At Casitas Tres Cocos, costs incurred from our guest services and things to do arranged through our concierge, as well as Youcan Toucan Bar & Grille, can be charged to your room for easy payment upon departure. We gladly accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express, as well as U.S. dollars.

In addition to local Belize dollars, we gladly accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express and U.S. dollars.

Peak travel season in this area is traditionally November to April, but the weather and activities in Ambergris Caye, Belize, make Casitas Tres Cocos a vacation destination year round leaving plenty of time for all of the things to do on the island.

For information on travel and health requirements, please visit the Government of Belize's Travel in Belize web page, refer to your home country’s governmental travel requirements, and talk with your local healthcare provider. We recommend that you have a current tetanus/diphtheria vaccination; however, visitors typically do not need any special vaccinations before coming to Belize, nor is it necessary to take any malaria preventatives. We strongly encourage you to bring a surplus supply of your personal medications in case of emergency.

Please visit www.ambergriscaye.com for maps of the island and surrounding areas in Belize, as well as a wealth of other information.

Yes. Visit our Things to Do page for featured land, reef, water and underwater activities. We work with some of the best vendors in town who are licensed, knowledgeable professionals for top quality and favorable prices. Please contact our on-site concierge, who will take care of all of the arrangements, at info@casitastrescocos.com or 1.866.664.3158.

Belize is a tropical vacation destination, so we recommend packing insect repellant and sunscreen, in addition to your basic necessities and comfortable, casual clothing. Although Ambergris Caye gets less rain than the mainland, we suggest bringing a waterproof jacket or umbrella for the occasional rainstorm, as well. If you're planning to do some exploring, we also recommend bringing a sturdy pair of hiking or walking shoes and socks.

Life on Ambergris Caye, Belize, is casual and relaxed. Depending on the season, daytime typically calls for shorts, t-shirts, bathing suits, wraps, hats, sandals, and other lightweight, sun-protective clothing and accessories. Nighttime is a bit cooler, depending on the time of year, so jeans and light pants, long-sleeved shirts and blouses or jackets are appropriate. The atmosphere of our on-site restaurant, Youcan Toucan Bar & Grille, reflects the local attitude: Swimsuits are perfectly appropriate for the swim-up bar and lounge area, and shorts and sandals are welcome inside and on the rooftop.

Check-in time is 3 p.m. and check-out time is 11 a.m. If you need to make arrangements for other times, please contact our concierge, who will make every effort to accommodate you, at info@casitastrescocos.com or 1.866.664.3158.

When you check in, we kindly request a valid ID—passports are acceptable—and credit card for incidentals.

We recommend you read this article on Belize.com for more information about Belize law as it pertains to how much money you can bring with you. In general, Belize is one of the more expensive countries in Central America, but one of the cheapest in the Caribbean. Prices for goods, transportation and activities vary depending on the area, but you'll find the best bargains at places for the locals; for suggestions, please contact our concierge at info@casitastrescocos.com or 1.866.664.3158. Casitas Tres Cocos works with the best vendors in town for top quality and favorable prices.

Most large resorts add a service charge to your bill, but we don't. At Casitas Tres Cocos, we believe that great guest service should be a part of your vacation experience. Although tipping is customary in Belize—10–15% is standard—it is at your discretion. If you'd like to tip the Casitas Tres Cocos staff—thank you!—you can leave a cash tip or tip on your credit card during checkout.

Directions & Transportation

The largest island of Belize, Ambergris Caye is located in the northwest part of the country, just off the tip of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula and surrounded by the Caribbean Sea. Just a half mile from the Belize Barrier Reef, the world's second-largest coral reef system that lines the entire eastern shore of Belize, Ambergris Caye is also minutes away from some of the country's main tourist attractions, including the Great Blue Hole, Mayan ruins and Hol Chan Marine Reserve. Check out our featured list of things to do while staying at Casitas Tres Cocos.

The flight costs approximately US$89.75/person one way or US$157.75/person round trip and takes about 15 minutes. Regional flights depart frequently and are scheduled to correspond with all international flights arriving to and departing from BZE.

Option 2—Ferry:

  • Several ferry companies operate between mainland Belize and Ambergris Caye; however, since these companies are not private charter, they may stop at other islands and/or resorts along the way. A ferry boat trip typically takes approximately 1.5 hours one way and costs about US$40 round trip. To catch the ferry, you must first take a taxi from BZE to the water taxi port in downtown Belize City, and you will arrive on Ambergris Caye at a centrally located dock in downtown San Pedro. Yes, Belize—and the surrounding area—is a safe country; however, we encourage our guests to travel with common sense and good judgment, just as you would in other vacation destinations. For example, we recommend carrying small amounts of cash, walking in the company of others, especially at night, and not wearing flashy jewelry.

We understand that water safety in developing countries is a concern for international travelers. Casitas Tres Cocos has a reverse osmosis water-filtering system for safe drinking water at the resort. Elsewhere on the island, the tap water is rainwater and desalination collection that is perfectly safe for brushing your teeth, showering and washing your hands with, but we recommend not drinking it. Instead, we provide complimentary bottled water in each casita for you to take on your day excursions, and most local restaurants provide bottled water, as well. Water is our most precious resource on the island, and we kindly ask you to use it with care. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our concierge at info@casitastrescocos.com or 1.866.664.3158.

In general, Belize has two seasons: winter, which is mild and relatively dry, and summer, which is warmer and occasionally humid. The traditional rainy season is June through November. Thanks to the Caribbean Sea breeze, temperatures on Ambergris Caye are much milder than those on mainland Belize: low to mid 80s during the day and upper 70s during the evenings.

The tropical conditions of the island attract bugs such as mosquitoes and sand flies (noseeums), which are tiny creatures that bite like mosquitoes. Thanks to the Caribbean Sea breeze, bugs are not as much of a problem on the island as they are  on the mainland. We recommend carrying DEET-based insect repellant with you, especially at night, and using hydrocortisone cream and/or Benedryl to soothe an itch.

Thanks to the protection of Belize Barrier Reef, the second-largest coral reef system in the world, the waters off of our coast are generally shallow and calm. Sea grass thrives in these conditions, covering the sea beds of Ambergris Caye. Sea grass is an important part of Belize’s ecosystem, contributing to the health of Belize Barrier Reef, and its removal is highly controversial and legislated. As a result, Casitas Tres Cocos doesn't have a traditional walk-in beach, but tourists and locals alike can jump off of the island’s many docks and swim where the water is deeper and free of sea grass.
